So you say you want updates on the new baby...

Josie eats. Josie poops. Josie cries a lot. She's been sleeping at least one 6-7 hour session at night, so we are getting some sleep. But getting her back to sleep can take some work. Oh, and she looks like a clone of her sister at the same age. Freaky.

But in other news, we have the actual following quotes from Zobot. We will call this the Vagina Edition...

  • [When her mom pointed out a small misconception she had about anatomy]:
    "I don't have a vagina! YOU have a vagina!"
  • "I have a stinky vagina."
  • "My vagina was sticking out."

And to let you know that she does talk about other topics, a few days ago, she was telling us that one of the other little girls at her school had hit her. Marnie asked her "Did you hit her back?" And Zoe responded "No, she hit me on my back."

We shit you not.

Sleeping Well

Josette is doing very well- we are learning her sleep patterns, eating patterns, which finger of mine she likes to suck on to fall asleep, etc.

All of my girls (Zoe, Josie, Marnie and Kai) took a nap at the same time this afternoon, Josie on my lap for almost two hours, and I didn't move an inch for fear she would wake up and demand that I get Marnie up from her nap.

Me and the Offspring

A friend threw an easter egg hunt today, and we stopped by to celebrate Josie's 48th birth-hour. She didn't do much partying, but seemed to enjoy napping in the shade. Click for more.

A semi-apology to my brother

When my nephew Brody was born, Seth sent out the first email spelling his name "Brodie". We gave him a lot of crap for that.

And then I spelled my new daughter's nickname wrong on the name of the first photo gallery. Even after I had spelled it right 32 times in the other posts. Niiiiice.

Sorry, Seth.

Coming Home

Looks like we're heading home tonight (Friday). Josette has been doing great, sleeping and eating and sleeping...

We'll be open for food & babysitting donations as of Saturday morning.

Josie's Here!

Marnie was actually due on March 14-15. But with a March 21st nurses strike looming, her doctor got her in the queue a couple days early to be induced. We dropped Zoe off with our neighbors at 7:30 and went to the hospital at 8:30 PM on Wed March 19th (My brother Seth's Birthday and my Aunt Merle's Anniversary).

Once there, they got us in the room and gave Marnie the first of two drugs to help induce labor, at around 10:00pm. We then tried to get some sleep, but the rubber mattress they had for me wasn't conducive to getting any sleep, and the fact that nurses would come in and turn the lights on every 30 minutes didn't help. I think Marnie got some sleep, but I was awake most of the night (like it matters how tired I am).

Around 7:00 in the morning on the 20th (Happy Birthday Uncle Alan!), Marnie's contractions were about 2 minutes apart and she was a couple centimeters dilated. So they gave her the epidural and fired up the stronger drug to really get the contractions going.

Since she had the epidural, Marnie wasn't uncomfortable (relatively speaking). She progressed quickly. They called the doctor, told her to be here at 12:30 and had her start pushing around 12 noon. Things progressed so quickly that we actually had to wait for the doctor to run up the stairs and get in position for the ONE AND ONLY contraction she was present for! Marnie delivered Josette on the third push.

She was 8lbs 2oz, 20 inches long, and got a 7/9 on the apgar test (for those of you in the know). We think she has blue eyes, but they are VERY dark blue, and might just be brown.

She spent the day sleeping, feeding and mildly crying. Mainly taking all the new things to be seen in a little post-natal room. Marnie is doing well, looks good and is generally enjoying a relatively easy delivery (compared to the last one).

I went home and had pizza and ice cream with Zoe. We'll head back to the hospital tomorrow morning and Zoe will get to meet her sister for the first time.

BTW, here is a shot of Zoe when she was born. It's a good thing they are 2 1/2 years apart...

(Zoe in 2005)

When is this frickin' baby gonna show up? She's totally inconveniencing us.

I finished the cradle, Marnie's tried spicy food, beer, walking uphill, etc. No baby.

Zoe's getting impatient. And now I have a cold.

Where's the baby?

No baby yet

Marnie is doing fine, but no sign of the new baby. Which is good, because it looks like I won't get our new cradle finished until Wed or Thursday at earliest.

Nice day at Crissy Field

Zoe's cold looked to be finished, so we crammed the dog in the back of the prius and ran up to Crissy Field for a lunchtime picnic. Once again Dad proved to be useless with a kite (I blame the kite construction) but we had a good time.

Zoe was taunting the Bay, and subsequently it attacked her, facilitating a quick change of clothes on the beach. Luckily she was not ticketed for public indecency.
